Graston and Myofascial Release

Graston is a soft-tissue treatment designed to diagnose and treat adhesions in muscles and tendons using hand-held tools. A lotion or lubricant is applied to the affected area to be treated and the doctor precisely and gently rubs the tool back and forth. Graston temporarily causes increased inflammation to the site in order to break down painful adhesions in the muscle.

Myofascial Release is a manual therapy technique designed to break-up and "release" soft tissue adhesions in muscles as well as lengthen or stretch tight, contractured muscles. The doctor takes a thumb contact at one area of the muscle targeted for treatment, then passively moves the the muscle through different ranges of motion while applying steady pressure. Myofascial Release is ideal for those suffering from chronic muscle tightness and stiffness.
