What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession known as a conservative alternative medicine (CAM). Chiropractic was established in 1895 and comes from the Greek word “chiro” which means “by hand.” Chiropractors focus on treating dysfunctional joints of the spine and are uniquely adept at joint manipulation or “adjustments”. Chiropractic adjustments can help reduce pain, improve joint motion, reduce muscle spasm, and improve overall flexibility.

Chiropractic can not only treat back and neck pain, but is also used for the treatment of other ailments such as headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder pain, hip pain and knee pain. Chiropractic care is a safe and effective treatment option for sports injuries and auto accident injuries as well.

Before we can treat you, we must first evaluate what treatment you will need. On your initial visit, the doctor will ask a series of questions about your pain and medical history, followed by a comprehensive examination. X-rays and/or advanced imaging (MRI, CT, etc.) may also be ordered.

Adjustments

Our main job is to make adjustments in your spine. Depending on the injury or ailment, these adjustments can help improve range of motion, improve flexibility, reduce pain, and reduce muscle spasm.

Care Methods

We utilize many procedures to treat our patients. All of them are safe, natural, and non-invasive. Chiropractic care typically utilizes joint manipulation or “adjustments”. In addition to adjustments, your care may include electrical stimulation therapy, ultrasound, heat therapy, cold therapy, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, traction (decompression), and/or rehabilitation exercises.

Why Chiropractic?

Chiropractic care is ideal for patients who wish to treat the cause of their pain in a safe and natural way. Chiropractic does not rely on the use of drugs or surgery to treat the symptoms of an issue; rather, the treatment focuses on the source of the issue. While under chiropractic care, patients are educated and encouraged to engage in healthy lifestyle habits (diet, exercise, stress management) in order to augment the body’s natural healing process.
