Dr. Kuan

Dr. J. K. Kuan DC, LAc
Clinical Director of Prosperity Health Center

Dr. J. K. Kuan was born and raised in a country where Chinese medicine has been deep rooted in the culture and lifestyle. Since childhood, he had witnessed his family members using Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for healing and wellness. Later in life, after years of being active in playing sports and practicing martial arts, he personally benefitted from Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and Chiropractic treatment for shoulder, knee pain and sciatica, which inspired him to become a licensed Acupuncturist and Chiropractor.

Dr. Kuan graduated with honors from Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCUHS) with a Doctor’s degree in Chiropractic and a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. There he received the Outstanding Service Award for his individual contributions to the college, made the Dean’s List, and was recognized by the California State Assembly for his steadfast commitment to the community and outstanding leadership in Traditional Asian Medicine and Health Sciences.

During his college career, Dr. Kuan has served as President of the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Association, President of the Progressive Acupuncture Association, President of the Tai Chi Club, and a Higher Education Teaching Assistant. He is deeply passionate about his work in alternative medicine, and joyfully shares his knowledge and skills with his colleagues and community.

Dr. Kuan began his Acupuncture and Chiropractic career in San Diego and Santa Monica, California where he was working with a seasoned Chiropractor. From there he brought together many of the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern Acupuncture and Chiropractic techniques for excellent healing and wellness. Since then, he has continued to build his reputation as a practitioner who is passionate about healing and providing care to those that find themselves in physical distress. After years of practice in California, Dr. Kuan pursued the opportunity to bring his clinical experience and healing techniques to the East Coast where he founded Prosperity Health Center.

Dr. J. K. Kuan is National Board Certified (NCCAOM) (NBCE) and a Licensed Chiropractic Physician and Acupuncturist in the State of New Jersey, New York and California. Enjoy the union of these two beautiful practices together in one class as you move through an all levels posture flow and then lie back for a long relaxation during which everyone will receive Reiki energy. (you may, of course, opt out of Reiki] Reiki info:// Reiki is a term that translates to 'Life force energy' and has been used for thousands of years to heal all aspects of our being by first targeting the energetic body and chakra wheels. Through energy exchange, the practice of Reiki can heal the physical body as many injuries or illnesses begin within our energetic field. With the reduced class size everyone will experience individual attention. Our group Reiki class is designed to alleviate stress and promote inner peace and tranquility.]
