Dr. Patricia Bassett was born and raised in Jackson, MI. She graduated from Hillsdale College with her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and a minor in mathematics. She then attended Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in North Chicago for several years before discovering this was not the path she wished to pursue, preferring a more organic approach to medicine, which she found in Chiropractic. She earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida Campus in March of 2018. She also attended multiple training seminars in additional Chiropractic techniques, including Logan Basic, Flexion and Distraction, Activator, Trigger Point Therapy, and several others. Despite loving the Florida sunshine, she knew she would return to her home state upon graduation.
After returning to her hometown to work, she decided to relocated to the east side of the state. She joined Optimal Wellness Family Chiropractic in Royal Oak, MI, which specializes in pregnancy and family care, for 6 years. During her time there, she found her passion in pregnancy, pediatric, and family Chiropractic care. She has enjoyed working with midwives, Obstetricians, Pediatricians, and lactation consultants to partner in the care of families. She is currently a member of the Michigan Association of Chiropractors and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, where she became Webster Technique certified. She has also taken extra training through the ICPA to specifically care for pregnancy and pediatrics. As a former athlete who played basketball and volleyball through high school, she enjoys working with young athletes as they navigate the increasing demands of their physical activities with ever-developing bodies.
Dr. Patricia loves working with all ages. She loves to incorporate soft tissue work, posture, and lifestyle modifications with her manual or instrument adjustments to allow the spine, nervous system, and ultimately the body to function at its optimal level. She is honored to partner with her patients and be entrusted with helping them in their pursuit of wellness. Coming from a medical background, Dr. Patricia is grateful to have found an avenue in Chiropractic to be able to provide and guide people in their pursuit of health and wellness without dependence on pharmaceuticals.
When not working, you will often find Dr. Patricia on the shores of Lake Huron enjoying water sports and the beauty that she has always treasured in Michigan.
I have lived most of my life in Michigan and grew up in Dearborn where I played sports throughout high school and college. In the fall of 1978, I learned the importance and benefits of chiropractic first hand. That summer I had been injured in a boating accident and spent six months in horrible pain. I had to give up sports because I couldn’t stand up straight. During winter break my best friend from childhood returned to Dearborn from Georgia where he was attending Chiropractic College. He saw how much pain I was in and how I was suffering. He explained to me how chiropractic could help me and he made an appointment with his chiropractor for me. As a pre-med student, I was skeptical but was willing to try anything to get rid of the pain and get my life back. In less than a month’s time, I was pain-free and standing up straight and back to playing sports again! After experiencing the benefits of chiropractic, the following fall I was enrolled in and attending Life Chiropractic College in Georgia. As they say, the rest is history.
