Low Back Pain

There are many structures that can cause Low Back pain. Two of the most common structures that cause lower back pain are the lumbar facet joints and the sacroiliac joints. Lumbar facet syndrome is also referred to as posterior joint syndrome of the lower back. This condition affects the facet joints of the lumbar spine, which are responsible for movement of your lower back. Possible causes of this condition include trauma, excessive weight bearing from being overweight, decreased disc height and increased lumbar lordosis. Degenerative disc disease and faulty posture can also contribute to this condition.

The SacroIliac joint can also cause Low Back and hip pain. This joint is located near the area of the hip pocket of a pair of pants. This condition is also commonly referred to as having “a hitch in your git along”. This condition affects the region of the lower back near your hip, and is sometimes confused with a true hip condition. This joint is very important to the walking process, and can make it difficult to sit for extended periods of time when it is irritated. Possible causes of this condition include trauma, excessive weight bearing from being overweight and extended periods of standing or sitting. Faulty posture can also contribute to this condition

Chiropractic care is very effective in the treatment of these conditions. Other complimentary treatments to chiropractic care for these conditions can include electro-therapy to reduce associated muscle spasm and pain, rehabilitative stretching and strengthening exercises, acupuncture, and massage therapy.
