RockTape Kinesiology Taping

Doctor of Chiropractic, Kenzo Kase, developed Kinesiotaping in Japan in the 70’s.  In the 80’s, he began to use elastic therapeutic taping with his own patients and moved it into the sports world.  The whole world took note in 2008 when volleyball player, Kerri Walsh, wore it in the Olympics.  Today, it seems we see Kinesiology tape everywhere we turn.

Unlike athletic tape, which is designed to restrict movement of an injured area and must be applied with a fair amount of pressure and in several layers, Kinesiology tape is flexible, breathable, and doesn’t constrict.  Athletic tape is typically very constricting and can limit circulation and can end up obstructing the flow of bodily fluids, which is undesirable for proper healing.  For this reason, it is typically removed after an activity is finished.  RockTape, however, promotes full range of motion, improves blood and lymphatic flow, and can stretch 140 – 180% of it’s original length to improve support even during movements.  It has no latex and is hypoallergenic and can be worn in the water.  RockTape even has water-sport specific tape! Topical creams can be applied over the tape, and the tape will usually stay applied for 3-5 days.
